House Party

I found this website through one of my cooking clubs and couldn't resist signing up. Of course, the first party I applied for, I got! Everyone knows that any excuse to host a party is a good excuse! So anyway, May 19th, I am hosting a party for close friends and neighbors to celebrate the season finale of American Idol sponsored by Ford and Fox. They are sending me a box of goodies, party favors and other stuff as well as a 2010 Ford Fusion for the guests to test drive (not my idea of a great car but many people seem to like it so what the hay)!!

I now need to get caught up on A.I. so that I know who is who and be able to pick my own winner! Very excited about hosting a totally indulgent and fun party on behalf of HouseParty.com. If you live near, come on over, party starts at 7pm. :)

Words of wisdom...

Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting.' Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first. The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!

Girl Scout Garden

I had the privilige of planting with my daughters girl scout troop today during our meeting. About 3 weeks ago they planted the seeds...today they planted the flowers. Our elementary school allowed them use of a small bed that we will eventually take over as we do more and more planting with the girls. THey were all very excited to show their parents just exactly which ones they had planted. Very cute! Happy Earth Day to everyone tomorrow!

Yes, it's been a while...

6 months to be precise. Okay, with the addition of FaceBook into my life (it's addicting - I have gotten in touch with SOOOO many old friends and classmates - several of which live right near me in CA), I have had a hard time finding time for both. However after a few conversations this weekend with family members that told me they missed the posts and preferred the blog to facebook posts, I come slinking back to the blog I once gave lots of love. I hope you will have me back and hope that those of you (you know who you are) keep reading daily because some FB stuff may overlap my blog stuff :)!

This weekend was a great weekend. Today high of 96, for us weather wimps out here in sunny socal, we were sweltering AND no A/C either, don't you feel sorry for us???? :) Yesterday I spent my morning at a Master Gardening class learning all about how to start a school gardening program and classroom. I was so surprised at how much really goes into it and also learned that it is possible. I have the full support of the principal at Hannah's Elementary school so I will meet with the staff and custodians to outline what it will take and go from there. I've got big visions for this amazing school garden so you'll get to hear all about that in the months to come!

I am turning in for the night but rest assured, I'll be back tomorrow!
